Jakobsberg Week 21 - July 9, 2018

What a great week!

For the Tuesday night activity, we had a Fourth of July fest. It was fun seeing people from all over the world eating 'American' hamburgers, racing in a three legged race, and line dancing. I am proud to be an American!

The next day, I was on splits with the new assistant, Elder Beveridge. We had a great day of tracting, contacting, and going to another Fourth of July celebration! Elder Gordon was here in Jakobsberg with Elder Harden.

In last week's email, I talked about the man that plays the bassoon and how we tracted in to him after seeing him a few weeks ago on the street. We went back to his house this week and were able to teach his wife! We gave her a copy of the Book of Mormon last time, and it was really cool telling her more about what we believe because she believes some of the same things already.

Sweden played England in the World Cup this week! President Youngberg gave the missionaries permission to watch the match. Sadly, Elder Gordon and I were unable to find any members or investigators to watch it with. But it has been made abundantly clear to us that Sweden lost... Super cool that they made it so far, though! Great job, England!

District counsel (we now call district meeting 'district counsel' and investigators are know known as 'people being taught') is always a highlight of the week! Elder Gordon always has great things prepared that really motivate me. This week, he assigned one of the sisters to give a presentation about being an effective missionary, then we talked about being happy as we serve.

We taught Sunday School in church yesterday! The topic was the book of Psalms in the Old Testament. It was really cool preparing for the lesson and reading all of the rather specific prophesies made about Jesus Christ long before his birth. I learned that the book of Psalms was almost like the Hymnal of Old Testament times, and many of the Psalms are composed by David. They express thankfulness to the Lord for his mercy, forgiveness, love, the creation of the world, and so on. It was fun to learn about a gospel topic that we don't study a ton as missionaries! The scriptures are so cool.

Zone conference is tomorrow!! Crazy that it is that time of the transfer already. Keep having a great summer!
