Haninge Week 6 - October 22, 2018

This is it! The last week of the first transfer in Haninge. Helt galen, jag vet!

On Tuesday, Elder Hansen and I were on the bus to visit Johnny and Birgitta (a couple we are teaching) when we saw one of the members in the Handen Ward! She was on her way to visit one of her ministering sisters and needed help getting her walker off of the bus and walking to the house. It was a tender mercy that we were there and able to help her. We ended up meeting the lady she was visiting and got to see one of the coolest cats ever at the house! It's called a Norwegian Bush Cat or something like that, you can see how huge and fluffy it is in the picture below.

One amazing miracle from this week happened on Wednesday. In the morning, we were out and saw two older ladies walking on the other side of the street, this was in Handen near the chapel. Elder Hansen and I were walking in the other direction on the opposite side of a busy road, so we didn't talk to them but I had an impression that we maybe should. Six hours later, Elder Hansen and I were on the bus home. We got to Brandbergen Centrum where we had the option to take one of two buses. We decided to take the one that came first. After one stop of being on that bus, Elder Hansen came to talk to me and said that he felt like we should get off of the bus and wait at the stop for the second bus. We did so, and to our surprise we saw the two older ladies that we had seen that morning!! We began talking to them and were shocked to find out that they had spent part of the day together doing some family history work. Elder Hansen and I looked at each other and laughed. We invited them to the family history activity that was happening on Saturday in Västerhaninge and they seemed really interested. They both ended up going to the activity! We have contact information for them, so hopefully we can begin teaching them soon. I'll never forget that story!

Transfer calls! I was 90% sure that Elder Hansen would be staying here with me (because I still know less than half of the members in the wards...) But he is moving on to Jönköping!?! Elder Anthony Burns of Canton, Connecticut will be headed here from Skellefteå on Wednesday. Crazy! This transfer with Elder Hansen has definitely been the fastest one yet.

The primary program for the Vendelsö ward was yesterday! The first song they sang was 'Jag är Guds lilla barn' (I Am a Child of God). Everyone sang the first verse in Swedish, then the second verse started and after a few seconds I realized that all of the kids were singing in English! It was tender to hear a ton of little Swedish children singing such a beloved primary song in their cute little European accents.

A little one for you to behold!! (My brother Nico)

The program brought back lots of memories. At the end, Bishop Olsson got up and thanked the teachers and children for their hard work. He then quoted the part of the Book of Mormon where Jesus commands, "Behold your little ones." (3 Nephi 17:3). Bishop then talked about how we learn so much from children and how they are like gifts from heaven. Just a few chapters before 3 Nephi 17, Jesus explains that one of the requirements for entering the kingdom of God is becoming as a little child (3 Nephi 11:37/38). I encourage us all to be better at "behold(ing) the little one(s)" around us and recognizing their great ability to emulate the attributes of Christ.

Love you all!
