Växjö Week 2 - January 28, 2019

Hello!

We had the awesome opportunity to travel down to Malmö for our transferly in-person district council and splits with the zone leaders this week! It was another amazing train ride. I was with Elder Jarmin and Elder Buckley was with Elder Callor. It felt cool to be so close to Denmark where Ben was serving just two years ago. An interesting fact is that Elder Callor and I spent our first six months together in the highest district in the mission and now we are in the lowest district together. I have also been in the same district as Elder Jarmin before, he was in the Jakobsberg district before moving up to Boden.

The branch here used to be a little bigger, and this is the old church building!
Elder Buckley and I were both under the impression that we would be eating potatoes and meatballs for most of our meals while in Sweden. While that hasn't proven true, we both have developed an affection for potatis med köttbullar and it has become a staple in our home.

Malmö actually felt a lot colder than Växjö does, I believe it is because of the proximity to the sea. Seeing the chapel in Malmö and the apartment there made me think of Elder Harris, he spent his last six months in Malmö. Malmö is meaningful to me even if I have only been there for one day! The day was good, it was great to be with Elder Jarmin and to learn from him.

Elder Buckley and I were matching one day!

Elder Buckley and I have had another wonderful week of finding and teaching. There are so many people here in Växjö who are prepared to accept, who are accepting, or who are remembering the message of hope that we have! It is amazing to see. We had a memorable lesson yesterday with a man who has not participated in church services for a while. I almost cried as he explained the situation he is in at this point in life. It felt good to testify to him that all will be well and that he belongs in the Church.
The Book of Mormon is the keystone to our religion and to my testimony.

One unique aspect of this week was that we received three referrals! We went by one of them on the way back from Malmö. We gave the referral a copy of the Book of Mormon and had a good conversation. He was referred by a lady from the States who was visiting Scotland and met this Swedish man. Missionary work while vacationing! The other referral was a husband/wife pair. We had the opportunity to teach the husband with a member and he came to church yesterday. He seemed to really enjoy everything and the members did a fantastic job of reaching out and welcoming him.
Ha det gott!
