Haninge Week 12 - December 3, 2018

-Elder Butler! (Elder Olaveson's companion right now). Just det! Transfer calls came. I'll be staying here in Haninge (yay!) which means that I'll be in splits with Elder Butler sometime in the next transfer.

Happy December!

I'm hoping hard for a white Christmas here in Stockholm, we'll see what happens! So far, we've had a few snow showers but they end up turning into rain showers... It's a little different from Boden last year, I read in my journal a few days ago that it was -23C at this time of year! Haninge is so awesome, though, the snow hasn't come yet but it's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

On splits with Elder Olaveson
I was on splits with one of the zone leaders, Elder Olaveson, on Tuesday of this week! We had a great time together. During planning, we set up some creative goals for the day. We decided to try and find two specifically looking people as we were out finding: a lady in her 50s who was wearing pink and a man in his late 20s with longer dark hair. We found both of them! Hopefully the lady will begin learning more about the church. We were able to get her contact information, and it sounds like there is a member in Elder Olaveson's area that could be a great fellowshipper.

-At the MTC activity
There was a stake youth activity on Saturday, and Elder Burns and I got to help out! All of the youth were at the "MTC" and did different activities to prepare to be missionaries in the future. They were all divided into districts. Six "real" missionary companionships (we were one of them) were asked to teach a district for two hours about being a missionary. It was so fun! Elder Burns and I really enjoyed getting to know our district and telling them about ourselves, how to teach the Restoration, how to give someone on the street a copy of Mormons bok, and other missionary skills.

The Stockholms Södra Stake Conference was held yesterday in a huge conference center in central Stockholm. It was awesome to be there to listen to the talks and to see members of the stake. We had a cool experience on the way home that I will describe below.
A fun, fun member meal. Gunnar (left) is from Norway and his son (Viktor, right) recently returned from his mission to England. It is so cool to listen to Norwegian, I can usually understand it but they have a funny way of accenting words.
I have been having amazing experiences on buses recently! For three days in a row this week, I talked to people that I had talked with previously. It was a huge blessing. One of the people was Linnea from a few months ago, the lady that came to church with her two friends. We haven't seen her or been able to contact her for a while and I was so happy when she got on the bus and came over to sitt next to me! Linnea talked about how one of her acquaintances passed away a few weeks ago. She said that it was horrible that he was there one day, living and happy, and completely gone the next day. It didn't make sense.  We had a wonderful conversation about what happens after death and I felt the Spirit as I testified to her that she would see her friend again.

On another bus ride, Elder Burns and I started talking to a mom and dad with their little son. We found out that they are from Serbia and had a fun time speaking with them. We invited them to the Christmas concert which will be here in the church next week, and they said that they would try to come. Elder Burns and I both agreed with each other that it felt like that was the family we were supposed to meet. The next day (Sunday), we were on the train home from Stake Conference when the dad in the Serbian walked into the same train car as us! It was crazy! The chances of that happening are amazingly low! I jumped up from my seat to go over and talk to him. We had another good conversation which continued as we stepped off of the train and waited at the bus stop. Sometimes the hand of the Lord is so apparent! Please pray for this little family.

Have a great week! What a great time of year.
