Boden Week 8 - October 23, 2017

Hello!

Great week here in Sweden!!

Elder Harris and I had an 'English fast' this week! It was crazy! We tried to speak Swedish the whole time, inside and outside of the apartment (because we always try to speak only Swedish outside). Anyway, it was pretty tough sometimes and a few English sentences slipped out but I definitely improved with the language!!

I had splits again in Skellefteå with Elder Barker this week! Splits are great. It is cool to be in a new area. I realized how well I know Boden know! I can go to all the usual places! So splits was great and I learned some good things with Elder Barker.

On Thursday I hit the three month mark! Wow! It was a great day with district meeting in Luleå then taught a less active member, Elisabeth, with her friend David.

There is a rule in our mission that you cannot baptize a person from a Muslim country if they do not have 'Tillstånd,' or permission to stay in Sweden. If they were to be baptized and sent back to their native country, they could be killed for being a Christian. There are SO MANY immigrants in Sweden, most of them from Iran, Iraq, Serbia, and other countries in that region. Anyway, this week we had a lesson with a man named Farrid. He has told us multiple times that he wants to be Christian, but we can't help him progress because he doesn't have Tillstånd. It made me so sad to see someone that wanted to learn but was prevented from doing so. I

We had dinner with Petrus and Sabina at Marianne Nässlund's home on Friday! It was great to have investigators at a member's house. Unfortunately, Petrus and Sabina are no longer investigating. Sadly, they don't believe that reading the Book of Mormon will do anything for them.

We did service at the Nässlund's farm on Saturday! Elder Harris and I helped them round up their cows into a certain part of the farm so that the veterinarian could give a shot to some of the cows. It was really fun!

One more cool experience: We rode in a member's private bus! There is a member in the branch here that bought an old city bus so that they could drive the branch to the temple in Stockholm or to District Conference in Umeå!

FYI Boden is pronounced Baden with an o instead, o as in boat! It is getting colder and darker! It hasn't really snowed yet but everything is frosty in the mornings! This week it was usually around -2 celsius, I think about 25 F.  It is getting dark and chilly! Great week here in Boden!

Hej då!
