Well, here begins the story of Jakobsberg Week 29!
Elder Barney and I received a Book of Mormon request about a month ago. In reality, we should have contacted the person the week we got the request. We hadn't forgotten about it, we just got busy with other things. Anyway, we were able to set up a time to meet the lady that requested the Book of Mormon. We delivered it on Tuesday and gave her the "21 Day Book of Mormon Challenge." It is a challenge happening right now in Europe, basically trying to get people to read from the Book of Mormon each day for 21 days. I encourage all of you to take the challenge, you can see it here. Anyways, we extended the challenge to the lady and it was so sweet to testify to her of this testament of Jesus Christ. She listened intently to what we said, I hope that she follows through with the commitment.
At the beginning of the summer, Elder Gordon and I tracted into the home of a nice young man named Leon. He is the one that said, "It's 100% positive" when we shared a short video about the Plan of Salvation with him. He has been on a trip visiting his family in China, but now he is back and we got to teach him this week! He loved everything we said and invited us back on Thursday. One cool thing is that he left the Chinese Book of Mormon we gave him in China on accident, he apologized and then said that now his grandfather is reading it!
We had 2 member meals this week! The first was at the Mitchel's house, they are from the US and it was fun to speak American English with them. The second was with a member named Nicki who recently returned from her mission to Temple Square. She joined the church just a few years before serving there. One of the coolest parts of member meals is the opportunity to share a message and extend a challenge, I love the members in this ward!
One of the people the sisters have been teaching, Sandra, was baptized on Saturday! It was so amazing to see her dressed in white and to hear her testimony. I was able to meet her a few months ago and she has become great friends with Elder Barney and I, we always talk about her pet birds.
Tommy and Mark were also baptized on Saturday in Västerås. We weren't able to go, but they sent us a photo which I will include below. I am so happy for these 3 people who have chosen to covenant to follow our Savior Jesus Christ by being baptized by one who holds restored Priesthood authority!
That is interesting that the testimony meeting had a missionary theme there in Kaysville, it was the same here in Jakobsberg. Almost every testimony was focused on missionary work. The coolest part for me was that Jakub and his WIFE Elisabeth (they got married! We always taught Jakub at the Dahlkvist home and they started dating and now they are man och fru!). Elisabeth got up to bear her testimony and she told the whole story of how Elder Harris and I met Jakub and then taught him at their house and now they are married. I can't believe that... It was fun to hear the story from someone else and to remember that cold night almost a year ago when Elder Harris and I contacted Jakub on the street.
The trip to DC sounds so fun, I am so happy you saw Ford's Theatre and learned about the wonderful Danes and Swedes who helped the Jews. I saw the picture of the plaque in Photos and was impressed with the story.
How was Boden a year ago?? It is crazy that those days are gone.
I hope that you all have a great week!
Love, Sam
