Jakobsberg Week 15 - May 28, 2018

Hejsan!

Happy Swedish Mother's Day and Memorial Day!

I loved reading the email about the exciting week you had in Texas! I receive strength when I read about the amazing things that we are blessed with because of Papa's goodness. It sounds like the relative race is going well! I am excited to see all of the pictures and to here what everyone did.

I am doing well here! Elder Gordon and I are very motivated to reach our transfer goals. We have goals for how many lessons we want to reach, potential investigators we want to receive, new investigators we want to get, how many people we want in sacrament meeting, and how many baptismal dates we want. I have set these types of goals for my whole mission, but this transfer Elder Gordon has shown me how to remember the goals we have throughout the 6 weeks. It has been really cool to see us making progress the last few weeks, we have been meeting weekly goals so far and it is empowering. I am really grateful for Elder Gordon, he is an answer to prayer. We both feel like exciting things are happening in Jakobsberg and in the Church in general. We are truly a part of the 'hastening' that the prophets have prophesied of for generations. I loved reading the email from you this week, our whole family is a part of the hastening!

'The Lord is extending the Saints’ understanding, Restoring their judges and all as at first. The knowledge and power of God are expanding; The veil o’er the earth is beginning to burst.

Why are we so priviledged to be a part of the Latter-days? What a responsibility and blessing.

This week has been amazing. We met some cool people and had some cool experiences! Here is one of them!

One of our companionship goals this transfer is to call a member before we begin contacting or tracting and ask them to pray for us. We tell them what our goal is for the time period we have to be out and then report to them at the end of the time. On Saturday, we had some time to be out in Sollentuna after teaching Lei and going by a referral. We called a member in the ward and told her about our goal for the tracting session: two potential investigators. We asked her to pray for us to reach out goal. That was the best tracting session ever! 90% of the people we talked to were willing to have a converstion with us.

At one door, I felt prompted to begin by telling about family history. A Swedish mom answered the door and we started talking. At the end of the contact, she seemed really excited to get on to FamilySearch to find out more about her ancestors. Another man we talked to was from Australia and expressed his concern about Christianity: 'Why does it all happen in one tiny part of the world- Jerusalem?' Elder Gordon and I looked at each other and smiled. The Aussie was happy to receive a copy of the Book of Mormon.

Those are just 2 of the many cool experiences that we had that day tracting. Neither of them lead to a return appointment or new investigator or anything like that, but seeds were planted and nourished. By the end of the tracting session, we had reached out goal of 2 potential investigators. We called and followed up with the lady in our ward and she seemed pleasantly suprised. I know that prayer is powerful, I know that goal setting is powerful, I know that 'following up' is powerful!

One of those potential investigators was Harry. We met him as we were walking down the driveway of one home, on our way to the next. He is from Nicaragua and a few of his family members, including his father and sister, are members of the Church. We met him yesterday and are excited to help him come closer to Jesus Christ.

Have a wonderful week with the end of another school year and the beginning of summer!

Med Kärlek,

Äldste Francis
